When a company has an IPO, it represents the first time its stock is offered for sale to the general public. Below you’ll find the ten largest IPOs based on company valuation on the day of their IPO, as well as the proceeds for each IPO. Keep in mind the market value of a company changes on a daily basis, so a company  might be worth more or less than its valuation on the day it goes public.

Even as IPOs have increased for the year, investors and other financial experts track the subsequent success of companies after IPO day. Snap, Inc., for example, dropped dramatically from its opening day price soon after its IPO.

An IPO usually raises a great deal of cash for a company. Companies usually decide to have an IPO when early investors are looking to cash-out of their investment, or simply as a strategic way to diversify risk and ownership.
